STAFF:

Ellie Meyer-Madrid is the Executive Director of Marfa Studio of
Arts and founder of the Studio In The Elementary School
(SITES) program.  She holds BFA and MA degrees in Studio Art,
an MBA in Management, has taught in both the Business
Administration and Fine Arts Departments at Sul Ross
University, and has worked in arts administration and arts-in-
education for over 30 years.  Ellie is a painter whose work is
included in collections in New York, New Jersey, Washington,
Oregon, Cal
ifornia, and Texas.


Alexsandra Annello attended Catholic University of America
and Massachusetts College of Art where she studied Film
Editing before moving to Austin where she worked as an
Executive Assistant for the Austin Film Festival. She
volunteered in the SITES and MSA afterschool program and was
an Art Intern, April through August 2010.  She currently teaches
the first grade SITES class and in the MSA Afterschool Program
and is a Gallery Assistant at Galleri Urbane in Marfa.


MSA founder
Malinda Beeman holds an MFA degree from the
San Francisco Art Institute.  Internationally recognized,
Malinda's paintings, prints, and multi-media artworks have
been exhibited in Central and South America, the United
States, and Europe and are represented in numerous private
and public collections.  She has received two NEA Visual Arts
Awards and a Colorado Council of the Arts Award.  She is
currently teaching fifth grade SITES classes with concentrations
in ceramics and printmaking.


Valerie Breuvart-Culbertson is an art historian who received
her D.E.A. in History of Art, MA degree in Political Science, and
BA and MA degrees in History of Art at Paris X University
(Nanterre.)  She was a Lecturer at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu
de Paume, Paris, and taught a course in Contemporary Art
History at the Sorbonne.  Valerie was the Commissioning Editor
for Contemporary Art at Phaidon Press in New York and
Collections Archivist for the Judd Foundation before joining
SITES.  She currently works for the organization as a consultant
in the area of art history.


Daniel Hernandez is a Marfa native.  He was a participant in the
MSA teen program for two years and an intern with Marfa Public
Radio (KRTS) for one year before graduation.  He attended
UTEP and interned at KTEP, the university radio station serving
the larger El Paso/Juarez region. He is currently enrolled at
SRSU, majoring in Communication and working for the SRSU
Fine Arts and Communication Department and the Office of
Information Technology.  He has worked in the technical
department of Marfa Live Arts and has an extensive
background in theater, computer technology, and audio-visual
communications.


Mallory B. Jones  studied ceramics for five years with Ted Isto
at Umpqua Community College (Roseburg, OR) and spent a
year in Berlin studying German and Art.  More recently, she
studied anatomy, physiology and Iyengar yoga in Austin.  She
participated in Marfa’s 24 Hour Plays in 2009 and 2010 and was
an Assistant to the Director of the Marfa Film Festival 2008 –
2010.  In addition to her personal exploration of traditional
textile art and music composition, she plays classical violin,
mandolin, drums and piano.  She teaches children’s yoga,
movement, dance, and theater in the MSA Afterschool Program.


Jennifer Lane is a filmmaker and videographer who holds a
BFA degree from Rhode Island School of Design and attended
the Fine Arts Graduate Studies Program at the Art Center
College of Design in Pasadena.  Her work has been exhibited
at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles Contemporary
Exhibitions, the Miami Film Festival, and most recently at the
Austin Film Society and the Royal College of Art in London.  
Jennifer has been a teaching artist with SITES since Fall 2007.


Callie Meeks graduated from the California Culinary Academy in
San Francisco (2003).  She is enrolled at SRSU where she is
completing requirements for teaching certification after
majoring in Art History with extensive studies in studio art. She
has worked as an archivist at the Judd Foundation in Marfa
since 2008 and volunteered for both the MSA Afterschool
Program and the Chinati Foundation Summer Arts Class before
joining the MSA/SITES staff in Fall 2010.  She currently teaches
the second grade SITES class and in the MSA Afterschool
Program.


Sam Schonzeit received a BA from Cornell University in 1995
and an MA in Architecture from the University of Texas, Austin
in 2006.  He has exhibited his work at El Cosmico (Marfa),
Gallery Lonbardi in Austin and London, England, Farrell/Pollock
Fine Arts in Brooklyn, NY, as well as other venues.  He joined
the SITES teaching artist team in Fall 2009 and also teaches in
the MSA afterschool program.


Wendy Wright received her BFA degree in Communications
Design from the State University of New York at Buffalo in
1991.   A musician and artist, Wendy has performed at many
regional venues and exhibited her watercolor paintings and
mixed media artwork throughout West Texas and Florida.  She
has been affiliated with MSA since 2005 and has been teaching
in the SITES program since 2007.
